Transforming ethical norms into standards that help organizations and developers create responsible AI
Martin Ebers (RAILS)
Paul Timmers (iivii)
The European AI Act contains important principles and requirements for responsible AI that need to be further developed into European standards. Topics such as bias prevention, data quality, monitoring, transparency and testing, need to be translated into robust standards. The session could focus on these topics:
- What is the current state of standardization in the field of AI at international, European and national level?
- What do these standards look like?
- Will these be application specific, domain specific or more generic?
- Is it even possible to translate fundamental rights into standards?
- How could democratic values in the decision processes surrounding the development of these standards be ensured?
- What will the enforcement of those standards look like in practice?
